This Privacy Policy describes how Alimia ("we", "us") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Alimia mobile app (the "App") and related services.

The App is currently coming soon. We publish this policy ahead of launch so you know what to expect. As we finalize the product, we may update this policy; we'll adjust the "Effective date" and, when required, provide additional notice.

Information we collect

Depending on how you use Alimia, we may collect:

  • Account information (e.g., name, phone number, email) to create and secure your account.
  • Help request content (e.g., messages, status updates, recipients you choose) to deliver the core "request/coordinate help" functionality.
  • Location (optional) if you choose to share it for a help request or safety feature. You can control location permissions in your device settings.
  • Device and app activity data (e.g., device identifiers, app events, crash logs) to maintain reliability and improve performance.

Location information is only requested when you explicitly trigger a help request or safety feature that requires it. We do not collect location data unless you grant permission via the system prompt.

We aim to minimize data collection and use it only to provide and improve Alimia.

How we use information

  • Provide the service (create accounts, send notifications, deliver help requests).
  • Security (prevent abuse, investigate suspicious activity, protect users).
  • Reliability (debugging, crash reporting, performance improvements).
  • Communications (service messages like verification codes and important updates).

Background activity data may be used to support timely delivery of alerts or status updates.

How we share information

We share information only as needed to operate Alimia:

  • With people you choose: when you create a help request, you control who receives it and what information is shared.
  • With service providers: vendors that help us run the App (e.g., hosting, analytics, messaging) under contractual obligations to protect the data.
  • For legal and safety reasons: if required by law or to protect rights, safety, and security.

We do not sell your personal information.

Third-party services

We use trusted third-party service providers to help operate, maintain, and support the Alimia app. These providers process data only on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions.

Such services may include:

  • Secure cloud hosting and encrypted data storage
  • Account authentication and identity verification
  • Background processing required for app functionality
  • Location services used to capture location snapshots when enabled by the user, such as during inactivity detection, safety alerts, or check-in events
  • Delivery of notifications and alerts, including push notifications, email, or SMS
  • Service reliability, diagnostics, and security monitoring

We do not sell personal information. Third-party service providers are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

Your choices

  • Permissions: you can enable/disable permissions (like location) in device settings.
  • Account controls: when available, you can update or delete your account in-app.
  • Notifications: you can adjust notification settings in-app and in your device settings.

Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the app's functionality, support safety features, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes.

Safety-related data, such as activity signals or location snapshots, may be retained for a limited period relevant to their purpose and may be removed automatically or upon user request.

Users may request deletion of their data at any time by contacting us. To request deletion, please contact support@alimia.app with your account details; we will respond with instructions or confirmation.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information. However, no system is 100% secure.
